June 28, 2015 $500,000 Awarded to Slip and Fall Victim

Restaurant manager Moises Garcia accepted $500,000 to settle a lawsuit for back injuries suffered while picking up an order at a meat warehouse. Garcia of Belmar slipped while descending a steel staircase from the second to the first floor at Carl Streit & Sons in Neptune and fell on concrete. Garcia claimed that workers washing the first floor had splashed water on the stairs making them slippery thereby causing him to slip and fall.

Garcia had previously suffered a herniated disc at L5-S1, which he had herniated in an accident in 2000. The slip and fall down the staircase exacerbated Mr. Garcia prior back injury, regarding additional surgery. Mr. Garcia was unable to return to work and walks with difficulty.

James Maggs represented Mr. Garcia in both his personal injuries claims against Carl Streit & Sons, as well as Mr. Garcia’s workers compensation claim.
